Why MSRA PD matters
- MSRA decides interviews. It’s a single 170-minute test used to shortlist and rank across multiple specialties—miss the score, miss the interview.
- PD is big and fast . 50 scenarios in 95 minutes (mix of Ranking + SBA) and a major share of your overall MSRA score —you can’t “wing” it.
- Score-driven shortlisting. Some specialties shortlist primarily or entirely by MSRA (e.g., Anaesthetics, Clinical Radiology), so a weak PD can block invites even with strong clinical.
- Predicts performance. Cohort studies show MSRA scores predict later training outcomes—PD prep isn’t optional; it’s a career lever.

MSRA (PD + CPS) is used widely for shortlisting and offers. In some specialties, interview shortlisting is 100% MSRA-based—so a weak PD can block an invite.
Selectors use specific professional frameworks; “reasonable” isn’t always “best”. We train you to think like the mark scheme—consistently.
